I am looking for information about my GG grandparents Michael Byrns (Burns) and Mary Shanahan. They were born c 1800, married in Ireland around 1828 and emigrated from County Kilkenny Ireland to Nova Scotia c 1833 ans settled in Hammonds Plains, Halifax County. I am searching for info relating to my great great grandfather, William Byrns. He arrived in Miramichi, NB, Canada on or slightly before 1830. He had a brother John who joined him 2 yrs later. Story has it that he jumped a British Ship and ran through the woods for days only stopping when he was sure they wouldn't pursue him. I am looking for information on a Garret Byrns born about 1757 somewhere in Ireland. He emigrated to the US around 1840-1849 and settled in NY state. He may have spent a short time in Canada before settling in NY, although he was in NY for the 1850 census. He had at least 2 sons, Michael and William. His wife was Elizabeth (Betsy).
