Researching ancestor George Hermes from Umstadt, Starkenburg, Hessen (Germany) at least when son Francis Joseph Hermes was born circa 1848. George married Elizabeth Schlest. No further info on either. Their son Francis Hermes came to US abt 1866 (1920) census info. Francis was a barber and remained in New York and married Anna Marie Kost.
