My GG Grandfather was John McManemy, born circa 1816/19 in Ireland but immegrated to Ontario,Canada before 1837 as he married there that year. He was a Protestant and a farmer according to the Canadian Census in 1851 and 61 going by the name of McManama, McMenemy, McManamy and McManamie and McManmy in Michigan in 1870.
