I finally found the father of Lyman Downs! Daniel Downs of Connecticut. Apparently Lyman's parents died in 1807 and I found a court document at the Court of Probate, Litchfield, CT appointing Norman Buell or Buele guardianship of Lyman Downs on Sept. 26th 1807. Lyman Downs, wife Esther Woodward. Lyman was born in Connecticut on Jan 15th 1793, died on Oct 15th 1847 in Boone Co. IL. Lyman's father, Daniel Downs died around Aug./Sept 1807 Litchfield CT.
