My great-great-grandfather Thomas McGowan was born 1825 in Ireland. He immigrated to the United States and lived his life in Newtown, PA. with his wife Catherine and their children. By trade, Thomas McGowan was a "Wheelwright" or carriage maker. According to the 1850 US Census for Newtown, PA dated August 23, 1850 it does indeed state that the occupation of Thomas McGowan is that of a "Wheelwrigh ...
