According to my ancestor Samson Roberts (born 1864) birth cert, his mother was Matilda Brazil. However, she uses the name Matilda Elliott Roberts on the census, and died under that name. She was born in Copthorne, Sussex c1843. Has anyone come across her? Her daughter Mary Ann married under the Elliott name, which is odd when her father was a Roberts. ... My direct ancestor is Ann Marshall born 1838 in Hoton, Leics. Her parents were William and Hannah Marshall born 1816 and 1819 respectively.
