I am trying to trace an ancestor John Hamersley who was transported for life in 1838 for wounding a policeman. He arrived in Tasmania on The Gilmore in early 1839. He originated from Bethnal Green area in London UK and was born about 1815. His assignment record has him in Hobart Tasmania but it finishes in 1846. Does anyone have John in their family tree? ...
